“Militants snatched 251 weapons from forces in 3 yrs”

As many as 251 weapons, including AK-47 rifles, self-loading rifles (SLRs), INSAS rifles and grenades were snatched by militants from government forces in Jammu and Kashmir in last three years, the legislative council was informed today.

Huge cache of weapons an ammunition were recovered from militants and there hideouts in last three years, the government said.

   

The weapons looted from security forces include 35 AK rifles, 44 Insas, 4 carbine, 1 LMG, 5 3.0.3 Rifles, 1 gas gun, 12 pistols, 1 pica gun, 2 UMGs with magazines and 102 grenades.

This was informed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in Legislative Council while replying to a question raised by BJP member Vikram Randhawa.

The reply further stated that out of 251 weapons and ammunition, 76 items have been recovered and 90 accused persons have been arrested.

It further said that Rs 1,13,05,144 was looted in 13 cases of bank robbery during 2016-17. An amount of Rs 1,99,000 was recovered during the period.

The CM informed that FIR has been lodged in all these cases and the investigation is going on besides challan has been produced before court of law against five accused.

The Chief minister further informed that 918 guns, 1901 magazines, 78,874 bullets of AK-47, 56, 74, pistols and sniper rifles were recovered from militants during operation and also from there hideouts.

In three years, total 568 AK-47, 56, 74 were recovered, 177 were recovered in 2015, 178 in 2016 and 213 in 2017. Similarly during same period 300 pistols and revolvers were recovered. In 2015 security forced recovered 118 pistols, in 2016 it was 81 and in 2017 the number of pistols was 101,” the reply reads.

In addition, 30 rocket launchers, 3 LMGs, 10 3.0.3 rifles and 7 sniper rifles were recovered since 2015.

he security forces also recovered 1901 magazines of AK 47-56 74 rifles, pistols and LMGs.

“Ammunition and bullets numbering 78,874 were also recovered by the forces besides 68.9 kilogram RDX and explosive, 108 IEDs, 980 hand grenades, 1190 detonators, 50 anti tank mines and 71 anti-personnel mines,” she informed.

The reply further added that 191 communication equipments were also recovered from the militants.
