G A Mir calls on Congress chief | Sonia Gandhi concerned over ‘deteriorating’ security situation

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi Thursday expressed concern over the “deteriorating security situation and bloodshed” in Kashmir.

A statement of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) issued here said that receiving feedback on organisational affairs and activities from JKPCC President G A Mir, Gandhi stressed the need to maintain discipline at all levels in the party.

It said that he called on Gandhi at New Delhi and briefed her about various issues confronting the people of Kashmir. The statement said that in the meeting that lasted for an hour Mir briefed Gandhi about the current situation in J&K besides the organisational affairs and activities.

It said that he also briefed her about the upcoming Jan Jagran Abhiyan to be launched from 14th November covering all districts.

Many other issues, especially unemployment and developmental issues also came up during their discussion. Gandhi and Mir also discussed the membership drive set to be launched in J&K soon.
