Revenue officers of Jammu and Kashmir have urged the Union Territory Government to redress their problems including much awaiting pay anomaly.
“Considering the multi-pronged and multi-faceted role of Revenue Officers in administration it is humbly requested to consider the long pending grievances of pay anomaly of Naib Tehsildars and promotions of officers on due time,” the officers said, in a statement.
“Resolving of [the] grievances of Revenue Officers will act as [a] morale booster and will infuse an energy among them to work for public welfare with vigor.”
During the pandemic entire revenue fraternity, they said, worked day in and day out night with other COVID warriors like Police and Health departments for contact tracing, implementing Covid-19 protocols and SOPs and dignified burials and cremations.
“Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars act as verification officers for vital issues and discharge their duties as executive magistrates,” they said, adding that considering the kaleidoscope of responsibilities assigned to Revenue Officers, they feel that Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars are lacking recognition for services which they are rendering to general public.
This was stated during a meeting of revenue officers that was presided over by Sheikh Tariq, added the statement.
During the meeting, the problems and issues faced by Revenue Officers were discussed in detail.
