Srinagar, Nov 16: National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah Monday paid tributes to veteran journalist and founder of Urdu daily ‘Srinagar Times’ SofiGhulam Muhammad on his 12th death anniversary.
A statement of NC issued here quoted the NC President Farooq Abdullah referring to Sofi as a person who called a spade a spade.
“SofiSahab was one of the pioneers of Urdu journalism in Kashmir and widely appreciated for his editorials. He was also known for his penchant for Urdu literature,” he said.
Paying tributes to Sofi, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah said, “On his death anniversary, I pay my earnest tributes to him. May Allah grant eternal peace to his soul.” NC General Secretary Ali Sagar, Additional General Secretary Mustafa Kamal, Provincial President, Kashmir, NasirAslamWani, and NC spokesman Imran Nabi Dar also paid tributes to Sofi.
