The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government in Gujarat has renamed the Dragon fruit as ‘Kamalam’ saying the outer shape of the fruit “resembles a lotus”.
“State government has decided to rename Dragon Fruit. As the outer shape of the fruit resembles a lotus, hence Dragon Fruit shall be renamed as ‘Kamalam’,” Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani was quoted by ANI as saying.
