Seven labourers dead as vehicle falls into gorge in J&K’s Kishtwar

Bhaderwah, May 24: Seven labourers were killed and two others injured, one of them seriously, when the vehicle carrying them to under construction dam site in Dachan tehsil of Kishtwar fell into a deep gorge. The accident took place in remote Dangdooru village at around 8.30 am, officials said. 

 “The vehicle rolled down into the 300 feet deep gorge, killing seven labourers on the spot and injuring two others. The injured were sent to district hospital Kishtwar,” Dr Devansh Yadav DC Kishtwar said.

 The vehicle bearing registration number JK06 – 3095 was carrying the local labourers all from Dachan to the under construction dam site. 

The condition of the injured was stated to be critical, the officials said. The rescue operation was going on when the last reports came in.

The deceased have been identified as 1. Sudesh Kumar S/o  karam Chand R/o kutwara kastigarh Doda 

2. Akhter Hussain s/o Mohd Abass R/o pingrari dachhan 

3. Abdul Rasheed s/o Aziz Mohd R/o Bunjwar Kishtwar

4. Mubshar Ahmed Un-known
