No decision yet on Covid positive students’ exams: BOSE

Srinagar: The decision to conduct the class 10th and 12th annual regular (2021) examination of Covid19 positive students would be taken later, an official in J&K Board of School Examination (JKBOSE) said.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, joint secretary examination said the students who would be tested positive during the exams or few days before commencement of exams needed not to approach the exam centres.

“But all such students should be able to produce a proper certificate to prove that they have been tested positive,” he told Greater Kashmir.

Asked about holding examinations of such students he said the decision would be taken afterwards by the Board. “If the students will be tested during exam days as notified in the date sheet, they will not be allowed to approach the exam centres,” he said.

Notably the annual regular (2021) Board examination of class 12th is scheduled from November 9 while the date for commencement of class 10th examination is yet to be finalized.

“Any student, whose family member is Covid positive, will be allowed to appear in the exams as per the scheduled date sheet and will be provided with an isolated space to write the examination,” he said.

Notably the State Executive Committee of the J&K Department of Disaster Management has ordered that the students appearing in the upcoming class 10th and 12th class annual regular (2021) examination should carry parents’ consent along on each day of their examinations.

“We have taken care of all the guidelines and have notified the date sheet for class 12th students as well. We have uploaded the format of the consent letter on the official website as well,” joint secretary examination said.

“We have informed the students about adherence to the Covid19 guidelines as well,” he said.

The Directorate School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has also issued instructions to the Chief Education Officers and Principals of District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) for making all the arrangements for holding examinations in adherence to Covid guidelines.

“All necessary arrangements are to be put in place well before the conduct of the class 12th and 10th examinations,” the circular reads.

The heads of the institutions, where examination centres have been set up, have been instructed to follow all the guidelines issued by the SEC of the Department of Disaster Management.

“The sanitisation of the examination hall, furniture and toilets should be carried out daily before and after the exams,” it reads.

The DSEK has further instructed the CEOs to only engage the vaccinated staff for examination duty.

“It shall be the responsibility of the Board authorities and heads of the schools to ensure that the prescribed Covid protocols are strictly adhered to and all Covid related SoPs should be followed in letter and spirit,” the DSEK circular reads.
