Talented Sopore cricketer injured in road accident succumbs

Srinagar, Dec 9: A talented cricketer from apple town Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district who was injured in a road accident last week succumbed to his injuries in Srinagar hospital on Thursday.

According to news agency KNT, Tariq Ahmed Mir, 27, a well-known local cricketer from Janwara Sopore had sustained critical injuries when his motor-cycle bearing registration number JK05B-5122 was hit by a speeding vehicle on Sopore -Bandipora road near Hathlangoo area on December 1. Mir was undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to his injuries this morning, the KNT report said.

   

Police have already taken cognizance of the incident and registered a formal case in this regard.

A large number of people mostly sports lovers participated in the funeral of the deceased cricketer.
