‘Ethical values play crucial role in preventing corruption’

Srinagar, Nov 18: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), J&K Govt, Saturday held a daylong function to commemorate Vigilance Awareness Week at Shalimar campus to create awareness among the employees about the perils of corruption and importance of integrity and ethics in public service.

Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who is presently on an official overseas visit, joined the programme through online mode. He thanked the ACB team for choosing the university for the awareness program.

   

In his address, Prof Ganai emphasised that SKUAST-K has a good work environment with no place for favouritism and nepotism. He informed that self-reliance and integrity are the ideals which need the focus as they are important for achieving progress and development of the University. He further apprised that the officers of the University have demonstrated the highest level of integrity and transparency and are committed to working with efficiency and diligence.

The officers from the ACB, included, Rakesh Kumar, SSP, ACB, Aijaz Masoodi, Ex. Engineer and Farooq Ahmad, Chief Prosecuting Officer. They delivered and shared their ideas on the menace of corruption. They stressed that ethical values play a crucial role in preventing corruption, adherence to rules and promotion of e-governance.

Registrar, SKUAST-K, Prof Tariq H Masoodi administered the ‘NO Corruption Pledge’ to the officers and officials of the university. He highlighted that the event aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of corruption on society. He further apprised that the University had established a Vigilance Committee and a Grievance Cell for bringing integrity and transparency in official matters.

Director, Education, and acting Vice Chancellor, Prof MAA Siddique, thanked the ACB team for conducting such a helpful event at the University. He said the program will be helpful for the officers of the university in capacity building for developing integrity and honesty.

Deputy Registrar, SKUAST-K, Parvez Ahmad Bhat briefed about the importance of conducting such programmes and emphasized fostering a better work environment in the University. Head, Division of Environmental Science, Prof Shaukat Ara, who is the designated Chief Vigilance Officer of the university, presented the vote of thanks and acknowledged the collaborative efforts towards fostering integrity and transparency at SKUAST-K.

All Officers of the University, Deans, Heads of Divisions, Station Heads, KVK in charges and officers and officials from other constituent units of the university. The event was also attended by the Central Purchase Committee Members of the University, Department Vigilance Officers, Executive Engineers/AEE/AEs, and Deputy Registrars and Comptrollers of the University.
