Kalaroose-Lashtiyal road lies in shambles, commuters suffer

Kupwara, Dec 7: The 2 km Kalaroose-Lashtiyal road lies in shambles thereby putting locals to a lot of inconvenience. The residents are anguished and are blaming the PMGSY department for failing to repair the road for many years.

The residents said that the road was dotted with potholes on multiple spots, exposing the tall claims of authorities into improving connectivity. “For the last one year we have been demanding renovation and macadamisation of our road but don’t know why the concerned department has been watching our hardships as mute spectators,” they added.

The residents said that one year ago flash floods damaged the road near Higher Secondary School following which they anticipated that their entire road would be repaired but nothing like that happened.

The residents said that a huge chunk of the population has been suffering due to dilapidated conditions of this road. “The pathetic condition of the road has become a severe issue for the people of Lashtiyal and Kalaroose but authorities are doing nothing with regard to addressing the issue,” Muzaffar Ahmad a local from Lashtiyal told Greater Kashmir.

Residents said that they have brought this issue into the notice of the concerned department numerous times but nothing concrete has materialized so far.
