Srinagar May 19: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four LeT terrorists and an associate allegedly involved in Tuesday’s grenade attack at a wine shop in which a Rajouri resident was killed and three others injured.
“Baramulla Police cracked the case of recent terror attack on wine shop. 04 terrorists & 1 associate of LeT outfit arrested. 5 pistols, 23 grenades, explosive recovered. This terror module was involved in several terror incidents in Baramulla. Investigation going on,” IGP Kashmir said in a statement.
SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat, while addressing a presser over the development as per news agency KNO, said the accused were arrested after examination of CCTV cameras “which helped to reconstruct the sequence of events pre and post the incident” adding the associate was part of the LeT’s ‘Falcon Squad’. A motorcycle bearing registration number JK05F-4822 used in the incident has also been seized in the incident, the SSP added.
He said that the consignment of weapons and explosives was received by the attackers few days before they carried out the attack on the wine shop.
An employee identified as Ranjit Singh son of Kishan Lal resident of Bakra Rajouri of a newly-opened wine shop at Devan Bagh was killed and three others injured in a grenade attack by terrorists in Baramulla district of north Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.
Police said a pillion rider wearing a Burka walked to the window of the said wine shop and dropped a grenade inside the said wine shop through the port hole window and thereafter fled away on the bike from the spot. It is believed that the attacker also received splinter injuries in the incident.
The family, which staged a sit-in in Rajouri on Wednesday, demanded an ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh and a job for a family member.
The injured in the attack have been identified as Govardhan Singh son of Bijendra Singh, Ravi Kumar son of Sh Kartar Singh, both residents of Billawar Kathua and Govind Singh son of Gurdev Singh resident of Kangra Rajouri.
