2 deaths, 136 new cases in J&K

Srinagar, Dec 17: Two people lost lives due to COVID19 in J&K today, while 136 fresh cases were detected, the volume of total tests reaching nearly 60000.

J&K Government has increased the number of COVID19 tests in order to detect more cases on time. As per the official bulletin on the pandemic, 59048 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. In the past one week, the number of tests has been around 55000, today’s the highest this month.

In the past 24 hours, two people infected with COVID19 succumbed due to the disease. One of the deceased was from Kashmir division and one from Jammu division. The death toll of the infection reached 4510.

Today, 136 people tested positive in the UT. Of these, Jammu division had 40 cases, a higher incidence than that reported in the week gone by. Of these, 18 were from Jammu district. The Kashmir division had 96 positive cases today: 54 of them in Srinagar. Ganderbal district had 11 new cases while Baramulla had 10 cases.

The recoveries reported today included 89 from Kashmir division and 32 from Jammu division. With these, the number of active cases dropped to 1448 in the UT. The number of active cases were the highest in Srinagar where 517 people were recovering from the infection.

Today, 59856 people received a dose of COVID19 vaccination. Of these, 1981 had taken their first dose of the vaccine.
