J&K Bank Tanghdar operates from tin shed; employees, customers suffer

Kupwara, Dec 17: The residents of Tanghdar and adjacent areas Friday expressed resentment against the Jammu and Kashmir Bank authorities for failing to ensure better infrastructure at the Tanghdar branch, making the customers suffer.

The residents said that the bank which has been working in a tin shed for the past year does not offer basic amenities to the customers.

They said that due to the shortage of space, customers were not allowed to enter the bank, which according to locals, was injustice to them.

“In the bone-chilling cold, we have to wait for hours outside the bank to get our work done. Since this bank caters to a huge chunk of the population, authorities should keep basic amenities available here. The bank lacks waiting room for customers, which compels them to stand in queues outside the bank,” a local said.

The residents said that though a concrete building was being constructed for the bank, the construction had been left halfway.

Even the employees at the Tanghdar branch complained about the lack of better infrastructure here.

“We are suffering while working in a tin shed,” said one of the employees.

The residents appealed to the J&K Bank authorities to complete the under-construction building at the earliest so that people may get some respite.
