Redsidents demand repair of Kathidarwaza road

The road towards the right of Kathidarwaza, which connects to central jail is in terrible condition for the last three years as some drainage work was carried out by some agency but was halfway for some unknown reasons. This road has become dangerous for commuters, with many accidents taking place during the last three years. Some minor repair was done in November 2020, but that too was washed away in the winter. This road is used by all private, public and construction material carrying vehicles as this is the link road connecting the main road with Hazratbal. The debris of the damaged Kalai wall is also scattered on this road for last more than eight years, but nobody is even bothered about the problems faced by passerby and people living in the area. In addition to this, a piece of no man’s land on one side of the road is being used for the dumping of garbage without any check by SMC. We appeal to the concerned authorities to take immediate actions in this regard so that our problems are mitigated.

Residents of Hamdaniya Colony, Rawalpora demand macadamization of road

We, the residents of Hamdaniya Colony, Rawalpora, Srinagar, have been suffering for the past six months due to the damaged road in our locality. The road was dug up late last year for the construction of drainage. The work continued for many months at a snail’s pace and left the road non-motorable. The condition of the road is still bad and has resulted in damage to vehicles and a risk to bike riders. Despite reminding the contractor several times, the road is not being repaired to make it motorable.

The concerned authorities are requested to look into the matter and pass the necessary directions to end the suffering of people living in the area.

‘Install water hydrant systems’

With the increase in population, the density of residential and business structures has increased in cities, towns and even in villages. This has also resulted in an increasing number of fire accidents which causes a massive loss of property and lives. In the last few years, the fires have destroyed property worth billions.

In the old days water was present in abundance almost everywhere in rivers, small streams, ponds etc. Most of these smaller water bodies dried and are no longer found. Nowadays, there is non-availability of water in all areas, and even if firefighters reach on time, they face problems. The government need to install water hydrant systems so that the damage caused by the fires can be reduced to a great extent. We request the administration to take the matter seriously and arrange the water Hydrant system at least in the densely populated areas.
