Srinagar, June 8: Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar, B B Nagar on Tuesday rejected the reports of a “raid” by the Anti Corruption Bureau on Passport Office, and said it was a “routine visit.”
It was reported on Monday that ABC raided Passport Office, Srinagar.
“It was a routine visit by the ACB and they sought details about some cases,” Nagar told reporters. “I agreed to furnish details if they give us in black and white.”
He said that the ACB did not issue any statement regarding the alleged raid and added that it was not a raid but a routine visit only.
Nagar said that the Passport Office Srinagar has a transparent system in place. “Lots of changes have happened here. We work for the people and people are feeling the change. There is complete transparency at passport office Srinagar.
To a question about “denying” passport to former chief minister of J&K and People’s Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, he said: “In Jammu and Kashmir, we depend on police verification. If the CID recommends not to issue the passport, we don’t provide it to anyone. (In some cases) we are directed by the court to provide the password.”
