Srinagar, June 7: Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed further dip in Covid-19 cases as 977 new infections were reported on Monday, lowest in two months, while 16 people succumbed to the viral illness.
The mortality rate as well as positivity rate has witnessed a decline in J&K, health experts have credited the fall in Covid cases to the lockdown.
On Monday, J&K reported its lowest tally of 16 deaths in the last two months. Out of total deaths, nine were reported from Kashmir division and seven from Jammu division. With it the total number of fatalities has reached 4090 – 2102 in Kashmir and 1988 in Jammu division.
As per the details shared by the health department, 03 people died in GMC Jammu, 01 in MH Satwari, 02 in DH Kishtwar, 01 in CH Udhampur, 02 in SMHS Srinagar, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 04 in GMC Baramulla, 01 in CD Hosp Srinagar and 01 in GMC Anantnag.
Besides Covid related fatalities, the Covid infection cases have witnessed a drastic decline from peak of 5000 to below 1000 on Monday. On Monday, 288 cases were reported from Jammu and 689 in Kashmir division. The total number of Covid-19 infection cases reported so far in J&K is 301467.
Srinagar district reported below 200 cases after a long gap. Srinagar reported 161 Covid-19 positive cases, Baramulla 44, Budgam 103, Pulwama 95, Kupwara 107, Anantnag 66, Bandipora 35, Ganderbal 42, Kulgam 28, Shopian 8, Jammu 100, Udhampur 34, Rajouri 29, Doda 36, Kathua 7, Samba 18, Kishtwar 17, Poonch 12, Ramban 22 and Reasi 13.
The total number of recoveries on Monday was 4178, 1178 from Jammu division and 300 from Kashmir division, taking the total number of recoveries to 273853.
The number of active positive cases has shown a downward trend, currently 23524 active cases are in J&K – 14801 in Kashmir and 8723 in Jammu division.
As per the details shared by the health department, 5792 hospital beds have been designated for Covid-19 patients, of which 1586 are occupied by patients admitted in various hospitals across J&K. 1326 Covid patients are on oxygen support and 78 on ventilator support.
As per the official details, 01 new confirmed case of mucormycosis was reported today, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 16 in J&K.
