Fake currency recovered in Handwara

Handwara, June 1: Police in Handwara arrested an individual and recovered fake Indian currency notes from his possession.

In a statement police said that a police party from Police Station Kralgund at a checkpoint established at Rasripora Bridge signalled one suspicious person to stop. However, he tried to escape from the spot but was tactfully chased and apprehended by the alert party. “He has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohi Uddin resident of Dangiwacha Rafiabad. During search, officers were able to recover 47 counterfeit currency notes of `2000 denomination (total amount of `94000/-) from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station kralgund where he remains in custody,” it said.

   

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 31/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station kralgund and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
