Kailash Rathore assumes charge of ED northern Region-II of powergrid

Srinagar, June 1: Kailash Rathore on Monday assumed the charge of Executive Director, Northern Region Transmission System (NRTS)- II, of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited- a Maharatna CPSU under Ministry of Power, Government of India.

According to a handout issued here, Rathore was earlier serving as whole time director in Teesta Valley Power Transmission Limited- a JV company of POWERGRID & Teesta Urja limited.

   

He has graduated from IIT Roorkee in Electrical Engineering and has diverse experience of more than 36 years in EHV AC transmission system.

Rathore has been associated with POWERGRID since 1991 and has contributed to various segments of power system which includes Design & Engineering of EHV AC Transmission System, Load Dispatch & Communication Projects, Domestic & International Consultancy Transmission Projects and Execution of DMS Projects; in various capacities.

“He played vital role in transfer of Technology & establishment of manufacturing facilities in India by foreign manufacturers, for various high-end products such as 765kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), 765kV Transformers & Reactors and STATCOM under Make-in-India initiative of government of India,” the handout reads.

He has also served for seven years in NTPC prior to joining POWERGRID in 1991. He has authored many technical papers at various forums.

Kailash Rathore has joined NRTS-II at a time when Central Government has recently transferred the prestigious 220kV Srinagar-Leh Transmission System (SLTS) to POWERGRID, where 340-km long 220kV transmission line is a vital link to connect Ladakh region with National Grid. The SLTS project includes four 220/66kV SF6 Gas Insulated Substations at Drass, Kargil, Khaltsi and Leh.

The NRTS- II is entrusted with operation and maintenance of transmission assets, new projects and various consultancies works (under PMDP, DDUGJY and RGGVY Schemes) in the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, J&K UT, Ladakh UT and Chandigarh.
