Government forces on Thursday launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Stakiepora Village of Bijbehara Township of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police official while confirming the CASO in the area said that on “specific inputs” the operation was launched.
On Thursday afternoon, forces personnel comprising Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Hayr Mohalla of Stakiepora village.
As per locals, the searches were carried out many times in the area. The operation was on for hours together.
They said that the forces had sealed all the entry and exit points. People from many adjoining villages could not move out due to heavy deployment of forces present in the area, they said.
