Police has arrested two persons and recovered demonetized currency of 50 lakhs from their possession here today.
“A police party of police post Baghiyas led by the in-charge sub-inspector Ajaz Ahmad apprehended two persons during a surprise naka checking near Batboni Baghiyas and recovered demonetized currency of Rs 50 lakh from their possession.
These two persons were later identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Muhammad Ramzan Rather resident of Syedpora Rafiabad and Akeel Ahmad Khan son of Ali Muhammad Khan resident of Kanpur UP at present Baramulla,” police spokesperson said in a statement.
“Accordingly, cognizance was taken under THE SPECIFIED BANK NOTES (CESSATION OF LIABILITIES) ACT, 2017 and further investigation was taken up. These accused persons will be presented before the competent Court for judicial determination,” the statement added.
