Restaurants, eateries banned in Jammu

In a bid to stop the spread of COVID-19, District Magistrate Jammu Sushma Chauhan has ordered that no langars, bhandaras, dhabas, bars, restaurants, food courts, food stalls and roadside eateries will operate in the district till March 31.

The District Magistrate has also put restriction on thefunctioning of massage centres, spa and sauna. “No social, religious or ritualistic events will also be held at anypublic, community and religious place involving a gathering of more than fourpeople till March, 31,” the order of the DM Jammu reads, while directing policeto strictly implement the orders on the ground.

   

The SSP Jammu has been directed to ensure that “four or morepeople are not allowed to gather in a closed group at any place except atRailway Stations, Airport, Bus Stand where passengers are boarding andde-boarding for their respective designations.”

Conferences, events, rallies, dharnas, protests will alsonot be allowed, according to the DM.

Similarly, the Transport Commissioner will ensure thatpublic and private transport operating in the district will be sanitised withthe prescribed disinfectants.

Shopping malls, schools, colleges, universities, cinemas,gyms, recreational clubs have already been closed in the district in view oftwo cases of coronavirus.

“In case a person obstructs any officer or employee indischarge of his functions or refuses to comply with any direction given underDisaster Management Act, and any violation of the directions will lead toprosecution under section 51 of the DM Act, 2005,” reads the order.

SEC 144 IMPOSED IN MOST DISTRICTS:

The District Magistrate Udhampur has also imposedrestrictions on the large social gatherings, conferences in the district withthe imposition of Sec 144 of CrPC. Similarly, Section 144 of CrPC has beenimposed in Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban and Kishtwar districts.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate, Kathua, Om ParkashBhagatimposed restriction on assembly of people, bars, spa, dabas, restaurants andother places in other to avoid stop transmission of coronavirus virus.

Public parks, wine shops, seminars and other things wherepeople gather have been restricted in Kathua, an official handout said.

Transport office in Kathua has been directed to ensure thatpublic and private transport is sanitized. Municipality will ensuresanitization of sabzimandi, taxi and auto stands and other places.

SMVDSB ISSUES ADVISORY

Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Boardhas advised Non Resident Indians (NRIs), foreigners and other pilgrims not tovisit the shrine for 28 days after landing in India as a precaution againstcoronavirus.

The local pilgrims with symptoms like cough, heavy fever andbreathing problems have been advised to reschedule or postpone their visit.

MS RAJOURI HOSPITAL PLACED UNDER SUSPENDED

Government placed Medical Superintendent, Rajouri hospitalunder suspension after a letter revealing identity of a patient kept inisolation ward of the hospital went viral on social media.

The suspension order was issued by Deputy CommissionerRajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh.

As per the order the Medical Superintendent of GMCAssociated Hospital Rajouri, DrRaghuvir Singh has been placed under suspensionand attached to the office of CMO Rajouri; whereas the principal of the hospitalhas been asked to make alternate arrangements.

Official sources said a patient from a village of Rajouriwith some “suspected symptoms” was brought in the hospital on Saturday morningand was kept in isolation ward there. “His samples have been sent to alaboratory in Jammu.”

Sources said that on Saturday evening the MedicalSuperintendent of the hospital wrote a letter to the police asking it to keepsurveillance on the isolation ward to ensure that no outsider except designatedstaff enters the ward.

“This letter containing name, parentage and residential address of the patient went viral on social media,” sources said. Taking note of this, official sources said, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh ordered immediate suspension of the Medical Superintendent and his attachment to the CMO Office.
