Jammu, Feb 22: Secretary Cooperative Department, Babila Rakwal, today convened a meeting to review progress on land identification for establishment of grain stores under the Centre Government’s ambitious initiative “World Largest Grain Storage Project” in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir here at Civil Secretariat.
The meeting was informed that a total of 56 land locations have been identified in sixteen districts, so far, including 3 in Jammu, 1 in Samba, 5 each in Kishtwar, Kathua, Shopian, Poonch Kulgam and Doda, 2 in Udhampur, 4 in Budgam, 3 in Pulwama, 1 each in Srinagar, Reasi, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Rajouri.
Regarding the remaining locations to be identified for raising these grain stores, the Secretary exhorted upon the concerned officers to ensure that the same is done within a week. She said that no delay would be tolerated in the execution of such prestigious projects as this badly affects the development process.
The Secretary asked the concerned officers to personally visit the locations for finalising the same for the store keeping in view all the parameters set under the guidelines for the project implementation. She further instructed all the Deputy Registrars to ensure the identification of a minimum of seven locations in their jurisdictions with emphasis on the selection of far-flung areas for maximum benefit to the common masses.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Registrar Cooperative Societies, Special Secretary Cooperative, Director Finance Cooperative, Additional Secretary Cooperative, Joint Registrar Banking and Finance, Deputy Registrars and other concerned officials in person and virtually.
