Anantnag, Aug 12: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-Kashmir), in collaboration with the National Innovation Foundation (NIF)-India, hosted a Technology Dissemination Ceremony today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-Anantnag. The event showcased groundbreaking apple-related innovations, including the Modified Orchard Cart and the Apple Plucker.
Dr Ishtiyaq A. Khan, Head of KVK-Anantnag, presided over the function, emphasizing the importance of innovation in the current global agricultural landscape.
He lauded SKUAST-Kashmir for spearheading an innovation-led ecosystem and encouraged beneficiaries to test the distributed tools on their farms, providing valuable feedback for future improvements.
The highlight of the event was a live demonstration of the Apple Plucker by its innovator, Adnan Ahmad Shah, offering hands-on experience to the attendees. Progressive farmers and budding entrepreneurs received these innovative tools, marking a significant step towards modernizing apple farming in the region. Shabbir Ah. Kutay, Technical Officer cum Innovation Officer NIF-cell JK, and Dr. Shabeer Ganaie, In-charge of the Mini Innovator Cell at KVK-Anantnag, coordinated the event.
In a parallel initiative, an anti-drug pledge ceremony was held, underscoring the community’s commitment to combating substance abuse.
