Daily wagers of Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation working at 900 Mega Watt Baglihar Hydro Electric Project (BHEP) Chanderkote on Tuesday threatened to stop generation of electricity in both Phases of Hydroelectric Project at Chanderkote.
President of JKSPDC union Ranjeet Singh while addressing the striking daily wagers, who are on strike for the past more than two months, said, “If the services of daily wagers engaged by the JKSPDC are not regularized we will be left with no other option other than to stop the generation of electricity from the project.”
He alleged the management is violating its own rules and norms by denying due rights of regularization of services to the daily wagers. “The corporation is ignoring daily wagers demand by adopting dilly delaying tactics since long,” he added.
He said that as per the rules the regularization of the daily wager services must be regularized after completion of seven years unfortunately the daily wagers who have been engaged some 15 years back and are yet to be regularized.
He hoped that the management especially Managing Director of the corporation will take a sympathetic view and help the deprived daily wagers by regularizing their services as per the laid norms and rules of the corporation.
