God, help us!

We have achieved the highest possible standards. From dogma to drudgery, time has us embracing rationality and time-saving efficient methods of doing things. Nothing from the past makes any sense now. Good riddance, as they shout.

The paradox is that our insatiable curiosity to make discoveries has us digging a grave for what really accounts for the rational, though. Rules and regulations are put in place, saving us from perceived trivial harms. We destroy castles and build boxes, tearing apart our deep-seated cultural conditioning. The deep connections at the psychic level with our negative elements – dark energies, tendencies to cause harm, inclinations to titillate strangers, given the deliberate ever-lasting deferring of copulation – are sidelined with the ever-beautiful, people-benefiting, and eye-pleasing modern narratives.

We are lost in a brume of confusion, blind to reality, yet we keep framing restraints and constraints and imposing them upon ourselves.

We are supposed to do away with our instincts to keep our utterly flawed system in equilibrium. Come to puberty, and we are required to repress our sneaking sensual instincts straight up until the age of forty. Thars, houses ascending meters toward the skies, and a two lac-paying handsome job qualify us for marriage. With such prerequisites thrust upon every helpless and hapless human, we begin assuming the façade of masters of erotic inhibition. And here we make a toy out of ourselves.

At the deepest levels of the unconscious, the whole psychic tapestry undergoes a radical transformation for the worse. You encounter incidents like rape or molestation? Yet, it has never occurred to us to recognize the epicenter of such behaviors. From where do they originate? How come a human being turns annoyingly bizarre, causing another person grave mental agony? Are we lacking something vis-à-vis our explanations for it? You decide.

However, we may act to outsmart the abstract forces governing this universe, drilling deep into the heads of humans the artificial norms and values, we stay dumb in the face of it at the end of the day. And we pay and pay and pay. In forms swathes. In forms our civilized minds utterly fail to connect them with the self-imposed barriers we enforce on ourselves in the first place.

Looking back into the past, we had a simple living but profound thinking. We lived our lives then; now, we kill ourselves. Marriage was never a burden, reliant on absurd conditions and material possessions. It was a sacred bonding easily achievable at any age post-puberty. Constraints didn’t define their societies; love did.

And love we desperately need now.

It’s high time we got over our obsession with acquiring wealth for wedlock. We must revisit the idea of puberty, decades-long deferring of marriages, what happens in between, and the conditions surrounding us as a consequence of them.

Tailpiece:

We are doomed if we continue to add inane credos to our lives. God, help us!
