1 death, 173 new COVID cases reported in J&K

Srinagar, Dec 10: One more patient was reported to have succumbed to SARS-COV2 infection in J&K today, the death toll of December touching 14 now. The case tally of the day was reported to be 173, the cases mostly from central Kashmir.

Kashmir division recorded one more COVID19 death on Friday, the official bulletin on COVID19 said. As per the bulletins issued over the past 10 days, barring three days, lives have been lost almost daily in the UT. The deaths are mostly in Kashmir division, most of the deceased belonging to Srinagar district which continues to have the highest number of active cases in J&K.

   

On Friday, 173 people were reported to have tested positive in the 20 districts of J&K. Most of the cases were detected in districts in the central region of Kashmir. District Srinagar had 59 fresh cases, Budgam 12 and Ganderbal 13. Apart from this, district Baramulla in north had 17 fresh cases and Pulwama 11. District Jammu had 25 fresh cases today, the highest in Jammu division.

Among the new positives, 10 were travelers, sampled on arrival to various districts. All the travelers were detected from districts in Jammu division.

Today, a record number of tests were carried out in J&K, the bulletin reporting the number to be 58781. Among these, 0.29 per cent was found positive. In terms of testing and the resultant positive percentage, there was a drop today.

The vaccination continued and 57092 doses were given in the day. In the past 24 hours, 250 people recovered from the infection, the active cases dropping to 1618.
