Samples from four people who were suspected of having coronavirus infection tested negative at the She-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences today.
A Pulwama family of threewas admitted to SKIMS Friday night with flu symptoms, SKIMS administration said.While two of the family members had travel history of Saudi Arabia, the thirdhad contact with the travelers. While SKIMS, based on their symptoms and travelhistory, took samples of the trio and sent it for testing, the reports havecome out negative.
One more person, withtravel history of Dubai, was admitted to the Institute with similar symptoms.Later, his sample also tested negative for coronavirus at Viral Diagnostic andResearch Lab of the Institute. Medical superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan saidall the patients were doing well.
Meanwhile, the standaloneCoronavirus Clinic was started today at new university block of SKIMS. Dr Janissued an appeal that all patients with flu symptoms and travel history orcontact with a person having travel history may approach coronavirus clinicrather than emergency and OPD of the hospital. “This way, we can help inpreventing the spread of virus and will also be able to help the patientsbetter,” he said.
No case of coronavirus hasyet been reported from Kashmir division, while Jammu has reported two positivecases. An information bulletin issued by J&K government said that till date89 samples have been tested in J&K of which 78 have tested negative, twopositive and reports of nine samples was awaited.
The media bulletin, issuedon daily basis for official data and information regarding coronavirus, saidthat 1567 people are under home quarantine. In addition, 164 people havecompleted their 28 day surveillance and 1878 continue to be monitored. 24people are currently under quarantine in hospitals.
