J&K Police Rules amended | Upper age limit for direct recruitment to 1200 posts of SIs enhanced

Jammu, Dec 10: J&K government on Friday enhanced the upper age limit for direct recruitment to the 1200 posts of Sub-Inspector in the Jammu and Kashmir Police by two years.

The enhancement in the age limit has been made due to delay in the conduct of recruitment due to COVID-19.

   

“In exercise of the powers conferred by third proviso to sub-rule (1) of rule 176 of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules, 1960, and in view of delay in conduct of the recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector due to COVID-19 pandemic, the government hereby prescribes the upper age limit for direct recruitment to the 1200 posts of Sub-Inspector in the Jammu and Kashmir Police, advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board, vide No. SSB/Secy/2021/7926-42 dated November 24, 2021 as 30 years, which shall be 32 years in respect of the in-service police personnel, as on January 1, 2021,” read a Home Department notification.

Prior to it, In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of Section 43 of the Police Act, 1983, the government amended the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules, 1960.

As per the amendment in Rule 176, after second proviso to sub-rule (1), third proviso has been inserted.

“Provided also that for good and sufficient reasons, to be recorded in writing, the government may by notification vary/ prescribe the eligibility conditions including age limit for any particular examination for the candidates belonging to any of the aforesaid categories,” the new proviso read.
