100 bedded building for patients requiring emergency services to come up at GMC: Bali

A 100 bedded building to cater to the patients requiring emergency services will soon be constructed at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu, for which a DPR has also been prepared.

This was informed today by the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, while replying to a calling attention notice moved by MLC, Surinder Kumar Choudhary in Legislative Council.

   

Bali said that a DPR is ready with the GMC Jammu for construction of emergency 100 bedded building.

The minister informed that the existing Chopra Nursing room will be converted into emergency ward which will double the intake capacity of patients in the hospital.

He said that all the necessary accidental and emergency services are available round the clock at GMCH Jammu.

 “All the basic facilities which are required by the accidental patients, medical emergencies, and border firing casualties are available in the emergency wards of GMCH Jammu, including management of patients in emergency ward and surgical emergency ward,” he said.

Besides, all the emergency operating procedures like surgical, Ortho of critical patients in room number 04 as well as in emergency ICU with ventilator support in addition to the facilities of lab, Ultrasound, X-ray, CT scan are available round the clock, he said.

He said that all the basic facilities are also available in the labour room ward of SMGS Hospital and most of the drugs required for the patients are available under JSSY scheme.

Surinder Kumar also raised a supplementary question and complained about the non-availability of beds in the labor room of SMGS Hospital Jammu.

Responding to the query, the minister said that the matter has already been taken into consideration and officers are asked to prepare a DPR for the same including construction of 100 bedded building under PMDP scheme.
