32 more COVID-19 patients discharged from Dist Hospital Pulwama, active cases reduce to 2,227

Pulwama June 2: Thirty-two COVID patients, who were on oxygen support were discharged from COVID-19 care District Hospital Pulwama on Wednesday bringing the number of active cases to 2,227 in the south Kashmir district.

The latest recoveries have eased the burden on the hospital where 108 COVID-19 patients are admitted as on date, Dr Gowhar, in-charge at the COVID-19 care hospital told Greater Kashmir.

   

As per Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary said the district is witnessing an improvement in the recovery rate of late.

“Until last week we used to witness three to four deaths in 24 hours but now we see only one or a maximum two deaths during the period”, he said.

The DC further informed that Pampore block of the district is the worst hit by COVID-19 where the positivity and death rates are the highest and accordingly the highest number of containment zones too.

Rajpora block is doing the best in terms of positivity and death rates, he added.

As per official figures, there are 580 COVID-19 beds in the district out of which only 125 beds are occupied where as 223 beds are oxygen supported.

A total of 77 patients have died of COVID-19 in Pulwama since April with 169 people losing their lives since the outbreak of the pandemic.
