Serum Institute of India announces 2nd COVID-19 vaccine ‘Covovax’

Serum Institute of India, whose maiden COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield has been administered in the country, Saturday announced a second vaccine against the disease it said will be launched by June this year.

CEO, Serum Institute, Adar Poonawalla announced on twitter that the vaccine will be named ‘Covovax’ for which they are collaborating with vaccine maker ‘Novavax’.

   

“Our partnership for a COVID-19 vaccine with @Novavax has also published excellent efficacy results. We have also applied to start trials in India. Hope to launch COVOVAX by June 2021!,” Poonawalla wrote.
