6145 pilgrims leave Jammu for cave shrine

Jammu, July 7: Tenth batch of 6145 Amarnath pilgrims Sunday embarked on pilgrimage from Yatri Niwas- Jammu base camp in Bhagwati Nagar to holy cave shrine in South Kashmir.

Officials said, “A total of 6145 pilgrims, comprising 4695 males, 1218 females, 58 children, 177 Sadhus and 36 Sadhvis left Jammu base camp this morning for twin Yatra routes of Pahalgam and Baltal in 238 vehicles.”

   

“Of the pilgrims, 3448 Yatris, including 2689 males, 625 females, 5 children, 97 Sadhus, 32 Sadhvis opted for the Pahalgam route. They left Bhagwati Nagar base camp Yatri Niwas in 123 vehicles. 2697 pilgrims, comprising 2006 males, 593 females, 14 children, 80 Sadhus, 4 Sadhvis left for the Baltal axis in 115 vehicles,” officials informed.

On Saturday, the ninth batch of 5876 Amarnath pilgrims, comprising 4501 males, 1118 females, 18 children, 215 Sadhus and 24 Sadhvis, had left from Yatri Niwas for pilgrimage. Yatra will culminate on August 19, 2024.
