Political vacuum won’t last forever: LG Murmu

Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu on Thursday said political vacuum in Jammu and Kashmir won’t last forever.

Addressing afunction here LG Murmu said, “We are empowering people at grass root level.J&K is a Union Territory with legislature and one day there will beelections.”

   

The LieutenantGovernor said that Jammu and Kashmir will rise from here (present situation)and it has immense strength.

The LG said, “Thepresent dispensation is trying to develop road connectivity and is alsoplanning to hold tourism and film industry summits in the Union Territory.”

The LG asked thelocal youth to come forward and become a part of the development programmes.

“J&K youth arequite enthusiastic about different start-up initiatives of the government inpartnership with the industry organisations,” he said, adding that “Militancyis under control in J&K.”

“We need to have constructiveparticipation from all industries to get travel advisories revoked. All of uswill have to work collectively. Your cooperation is required. Misinformationneeds to stop. Advisories will go,” he said.

LG Murmu said thatin Jammu and Kashmir GST filing is normal and automobile sector is eithergrowing or is stable. “We are thinking to create some clusters. We are alsomulling biotechnology industries which would not pollute environment,” headded.

The Lt Governor saidthat the present dispensation is making several head ways towards attractinginvestments to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He observed thatthrough the upcoming Global Investors’ Summit, best sectors of J&K will beshowcased to the world to open up the flow of investments to J&K. “Thegovernment is speeding up the development of various sectors and is alsoseeking private investments to make the Industry sector more vibrant,” headded.

 “These global conferences will be organized inclose partnership with the business community of J&K,” he said.

While answering aquery on employment creation, the Lt Governor said that a robust employmentpolicy, which also includes self employment, is in the offing to boost theemployment generation in Jammu and Kashmir.

On startups, the LtGovernor said that the Government is developing optimum IT infrastructureacross J&K to render requisite support to the startup businesses.

The Lt Governor saidthat a comprehensive plan is underway to develop J&K into a medical tourismdestination.

Inaugurates ASSOCHAM’s J&K office

Earlier theLieutenant Governor inaugurated the Jammu and Kashmir Office of ASSOCHAM-Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India here.

During the inauguralfunction the Lt Governor also held an interactive session with variousindustrialists and media fraternity.

President ASSOCHAMB.K Goenka also committed that an IT Summit shall be held by the ASSOCHAM innear future.
