Two minor children drowned in two separate incidents in Handwara tehsil of Kupwara district during past 24 hours, relatives said.
A girl identified as Fayda Jan 6, daughter of Mohammad Akbar Shiekh drowned into a well near her house in Kramboora village around 2 PM today. She slipped into well while playing.
“Her body was recovered an hour later. She was a first grade student,” Ashiq Ahmad, a relative said.
In another such incident, two-year-old, Farhan Majid son of Abdul Majid Dar, drowned into a stream near his house in Batkote village, last evening.
“The family found him struggling in the stream near their house. He was immediately taken to Handwara hospital but declared dead on arrival,” a relative said
