Srinagar: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Wednesday said that Pulwama police and security forces averted a major tragedy after recovery of two IEDs and arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGWs). Police on Wednesday evening, while quoting the IGP informed about the recovery and the arrests.
Police have identified the two militant associates as Amir Bashir of Sarnoo Pulwama and Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat of Martibugh Shopian.
“Major tragedy averted by Pulwama Police & SFs. 2 LeT terrorist associates namely Amir Bashir & Mukhtar Bhat arrested by Pulwama Police & SFs during joint naka checking. 2 ready to use IEDs were recovered from their possession. Investigation in progress: IGP Kashmir@JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police said in a Tweet.
Police said the IEDs were recovered by the duo after a joint naka by Police Pulwama, 55 RR and 182 bn CRPF at circular road Pulwama apprehended two active associates of militant outfit LeT.
“Two ready to use IED’s were recovered from the possession of OGWs,” police said, adding that in this regard case FIR No. 315/ 21 of Police station Pulwama was registered and investigation taken up.
