Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Bandipora districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police handout said.
Giving details, it said, “In Kulgam, a party of police post laid a naka at Jawahar tunnel. During the naka checking a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK03D-0150 was intercepted. On checking 11 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of two persons (names withheld).
“Kulgam police has registered a case in this regard and investigation was taken up.
“Meanwhile, Bandipora police has arrested two drug peddlers (names withheld) during a naka checking near Shokbaba Fisheries Farm in the jurisdiction of Police Post Sumlar. 590 grams of cannabis was recovered from their possession.
“Bandipora police has registered a case FIR number 05/2018 under section 8/20 NDPS Act and investigation was taken up,” it said.
