Two BharatiyaJanata Party candidates Monday filed their nominations for Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla-Kupwara parliamentary constituencies.
For Srinagar-Budgam, Khalid Jehangir filed his papers whileas for Baramulla-Kupwara, M M War filed his documents.
“So far, nobody has told the truth, people have been fooledwith fake slogans,” Khalid told reporters after filing his nomination papers.”We will go door to door and tell truth to the people of Kashmir.”
He said people of Kashmir are facing several burning issuinglike unemployment, corruption and nepotism. “I will fight to end all this, onceelected.”
The BJP leader asked the youth to come forward and help himfight for their rights.
“I assure the youth and I will fight for their rights whichhave not been given to them so far,” he said, adding that he was hopeful thatyouth in his parliamentary constituency would take active part inelectioneering.
He was accompanied by BJP state unit president, Sat Sharma,MLC Ramesh Arora and scores of BJP workers.
In Baramulla, M M War filed his nomination papers. He wasaccompanied by BJP’s state general secretary Ashok Koul, state spokespersonAltaf Thakur and Kashmir media in-charge ManzoorBhat.
Talking to reporters, War demanded FIR against MuhammadAkber Lone, the NC candidate for Baramulla parliamentary constituency, for hisremarks on Pakistan.
“Lone is enacting drama for votes by issuing misleading statementsagainst India,” he said.
BJP has also written to the chief electoral officer J&Kseeking disqualification of Akbar Lone from Baramulla LS seat for “praisingPakistan.” “It is to bring to your kind notice that National Conferencecandidate from Baramulla parliamentary constituency Muhammad Akbar Lone throughhis speech resorted to ultimate disrespect to the country by raisingpro-Pakistan slogan—”Pakistan Zindabad”—which has hurt the sentiments of peopleof not only Jammu and Kashmir but also the people of entire India,” reads theletter.
“I, BJP state spokesman Altaf Thakur request you to takeserious note of Akbar Lone’s speech the videos of which are available on socialmedia and disqualify him from the candidature of Baramulla LS seat so thatpeace and harmony are maintained in the country and Jammu and Kashmir,” the BJPletter reads.
