Clashes erupted outside Bemina Degree College and Amar SinghCollege in Gogji Bagh, Srinagar after the students staged protests against thealleged rape of a three-year-old girl of Sumbal area of Bandipora district innorth Kashmir last week.
An eyewitness said that the students of Amar Singh Collegestaged massive protests inside the campus and tried to move outside. However,the police deployed in the area didn’t allow them to come outside, triggeringclashes.
“The students resorted to stone pelting on the police frominside the campus. The police responded by lobbing tear gas shells inside thecollege campus,” said a college official.
He said that massive clashes were going on but the collegeauthorities were trying to control the situation.
Similarly, clashes erupted near Bemina Degree Collegebetween students and JK Police after the campus erupted in massive protest.
