Amid closure of all educational institutions in J&K in the wake of Coronavirus threat, the schools have started compiling study material and assignments for students.
The study material and homeassignments will be provided to the students up to class 8.
An official said the students from Kindergarten up to 8thclass will be evaluated for Unit-I exam on basis of home-exams.
The private schools have also started uploading tutorialsfor students online and informed the students to download them for self studiesat home.
Earlier this week, the J&K government ordered suspensionof class work in all educational institutions up to March 31, amid Coronavirusscare.
The School Education Department has directed all ChiefEducation Officers (CEOs) to prepare study material and home assignments forall students up to class 8th.
“Once the students get their study material at home, theywill get engaged in studies and it will help to avoid their academic losses,”said Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Muhammad Younis Malik.
Meanwhile,in north Kashmir the department has already dispatched study material toschools for distribution among students.
“The department is preparing special concise course forstudents based on home study material from class 1 to 8. The course has beenprepared by an expert team of resource persons of the districts to coveracademic gap,” said an official, adding the study material has been distributedamong all zones of the districts.
While the private schools have decided to upload studymaterial on school websites, the parents complained they were not able todownload the e-content owing to low 2G internet speed in the Valley.
Many parents urged the government to restore the high-speed4G internet to allow students download the assignments.
Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK)also urged the government to restore the high-speed internet connectivity inKashmir.
“Be itcurfews, post August situation or the latest Coronavirus scare, our childrenare being denied education for the last more than seven months,” said G N Var,President PSAJK.
He said the online studiescould have compensated the losses to the students.
