Day 29: NHM employees’ strike continues

The Joint Employees Coordination Committee of NHM and other health schemes including RNTCP and NACO continued their strike on the 29th day straight day today.

The employees on strike since 20-Dec-2017 are demand regularization of their services.

Its president Abdul Rouf in a statement refuted the statement of the minister concerned who had said that the government has formed a four-member committee to look into the issues of the striking employees.

He accused the minister concerned of misleading the assembly on this issue, “as no such new committee has been framed.”

“It is pertinent to mention that committee which was framed earlier in March 2017 after 15 days’ strike of NHM employees has already submitted its report to the department and no action till date has been taken by the government on the report,” he said.

“If government fails to address our genuine issues at an earliest we will intensify our protest in the coming days.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the demands of NHM employees are being supported by many other trade unions including Employees Joint Action Committee (Q), Doctors’ Association Kashmir (DAK), J&K Health & Family Welfare Employees’ Confederation, Society of Consultant Doctors Kashmir, and Government Pharmacist Association Kashmir, J&K Health & Technical Employees Association and others.
