Developmental initiatives receive fillip in Baramulla with launch of slew of projects

Baramulla, Mar 13: The Baramulla district administration has started the much awaited initiative of constriction of car parking lot in the town , besides having taken up several other measures to beautify the town which include installation of 36 feet long clock tower at Cariappa park Baramulla.

The other important initiative has been the construction of pavements along the Srinagar -Baramulla highway, from St Joseph higher secondary school to the Baramulla Public School.

The car parking lot which is coming up at Noor-ul-Huda market will be spread over four kanals of land. The town residents had been demanding the car parking lot for the last three decades. The car parking once constructed will be a catalyst in avoiding the haphazard car parking in the town which often leads to massive traffic jams.

The traders federation Baramulla which has been on forefront for the setting up of the car parking lot in the town expressed their gratitude to the LG administration. They also hailed the efforts of the deputy commissioner Baramulla for playing an important role in the initiation of these projects.

Tariq Ahmad Mughloo, the Traders Federation president Baramulla while talking to Greater Kashmir said that the fresh tender for the car parking lot has been issued with the revised changes and work for the demolition of existing structures at the site has begun.

“It is indeed a huge respite for the people of Baramulla town who had been struggling with the illegal car parking in the market,” said Tariq Ahmad Mughloo. “The car parking lot will be a great step in the traffic management especially in the town,” he added.

The Baramulla district administration has taken several other initiatives aimed to bring relief to the people of the town. Among such measures include the construction of pavements especially from St.Joseph Higher Secondary up to the Baramulla public school.

The construction of such pavements is considered extremely important as several educational institutions which include St.Joseph higher Secondary school, Guru-Nanak High School, Baramulla Public school, besides Women’s College Baramulla and Higher secondary school Baramulla are located along the route.

The pavement facility will ensure that students can use it for their safe journey as the area remains often congested with the traffic. “Indeed its use will be hugely beneficial for pedestrians, especially to students. The Baramulla town is already facing immense traffic movement during the day as such it will be of great relief to the pedestrians,” said Ali Muhammad, a town resident.

Another feather added to the town is the 36 feet clock tower which is being constructed at Cariappa Park Baramulla. The work for its structure is in progress and once it will be completed it will beautify the town.

“The clock tower will definitely be of great attraction. It will be a source of attraction both for the town residents besides the visitors of the town,” said Showkat Ahmad, a resident of Sangri Colony Baramulla.
