DGP reviews security, Covid-19 situation in Sopore, Baramulla

Srinagar, June 4: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh Friday reviewed the security and Covid-19 situation in Baramulla and Sopore Police district.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that chairing the officers meeting to review security scenario with the jurisdictional officers of Baramulla and Sopore, the DGP took stock of the implementations of SOPs regarding the second wave of Covid-19 in these districts.

   

The DGP appreciated the role of J&K Police personnel while enforcing the government advisories in containing the spread of second wave of Covid-19.

He said that besides performing routine professional duties in handling various challenges J&K Police along with other forces was playing an important role in managing Covid-19 crisis.

The DGP said that he appreciated the commitment and resolve of Police and other forces in providing a helping hand to the people and at the same time acting tough against the violators.

He stressed upon officers to strength the security arrangements as elements inimical to peace were looking for soft targets to foment trouble.

He said that successful anti-militancy operations strengthen peace and the grip over the situation was to be maintained as it had been achieved after a lot of hard work by the forces.

The DGP directed to keep a close eye on elements providing assistance to militants and said that all such persons should be booked under the law.

He directed the officers to gear up and put extra efforts to create more conducive atmosphere for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The DGP.directed the officers to brief the protected people not to move without their escorts and PSOs.

He also directed that all personnel performing their duties with protected people should be briefed from time-to-time and also be given refresher training.

The DGP also stressed for ensuring tight security checkpoints to restrict the movement of elements making efforts to disturb peace in J&K.

He said that besides strengthening the security grid, anti-social activities also need to be brought under check.

The DGP said that due to drug abuse, youth were indulging in criminal activities.

He said that the war against drugs need to be taken to next level and all people involved should be put behind the bars. The DGP stressed upon the officers to engage more and more youth in sports and talent-hunt activities once the Covid crisis comes to an end.
