DSEK orders inquiry into ‘errors’ in compilation of marks cards

DSEK cancels attachment of teaching, non-teaching staff in offices

The directorate of school education has initiated an inquiry into the grave errors committed by the officials posted in District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) during compilation of marks cards of students from class 5 to class 8.

The action was initiated after Greater Kashmir on May 08reported about the errors committed while awarding marks to the students ontheir marks cards.

   

“As desired by Director School Education Kashmir, you arerequested to enquire into the matter and furnish a detailed report to thisoffice within three days for further necessary action,” reads a letter shot toChief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla on May 09.

The DIET officials in Sopore had awarded flawed marks to thestudents besides mentioning erroneous date of birth of students forcing them tohalt the distribution of the marks cards among the students. “There were majorerrors in parentage of the students as well,” an official said.

The students had appeared in these exams in 2018 and hadjoined their new classes in November of the same year. However, the errors areyet to be rectified on the marks cards of their previous classes, exposing thelaxity of the DIET officials.

Already reported, a student of class 8th has been awarded163 out of 30 marks in one of the subjects while as another student has beenawarded 198 out of 100.

When contacted, the CEO Baramulla G M Lone said the matterhas been taken up with the DIET Principal Sopore but the compilation of reportgot delayed due to the prevailing situation in valley.

“We will get the report from DIET office by Monday orTuesday. We will examine the report and submitted it to DSEK for furtheraction,” he said.

Meanwhile, Principal State Institute of Education (SIE)Srinagar has also initiated a separate inquiry into the matter and asked theDIET officials to submit the report within 15 days.

“The errors committed by DIET officials have been takenseriously by the department. Principal DIET has been asked to submit a detailedreport and explain the reasons behind this error in compilation of markscards,” an official said.
