Srinagar, Nov 13: Two weeks after Greater Kashmir carried a story about the dilapidated condition of Lagama-Garkote (seven km) road in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the repair work of the stretch began today under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) PMGSY Uri, Khurshid Ahmad said that they have begun the patching work of the road.
“We have begun the patching work today and it will conclude on Tuesday. This will give some relief to the locals,” he said.
“Since winters have set in, we can not macadamise the road at this time. This will be done in March once the weather improves,” AEE said.
However, locals have alleged that the department was using the mud only for the patching work. “Instead, they should use some concrete material also,” they said.
