Bandipora, Aug 20: In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering a love for reading, Government Middle School (GMS) Onagam organised a visit for 20 students from classes 6th, 7th, and 8th to the prestigious Chinar Book Fair held at SKICC, Srinagar.
“This remarkable event marks the first time in the school’s history that students have had the opportunity to participate in such an enriching experience. The entire trip was generously sponsored by the dedicated teachers of GMS Onagam,” a statement said.
The school has been recognised for its innovative approaches to education over the past few years, resulting in a remarkable increase in student enrollment, with the school roll more than doubling.
These efforts have been led by the headmaster, Javaid Jawad, who has earned a reputation for his visionary leadership within the educational community. His commitment to providing students with unique and transformative experiences has set a new standard for educational excellence in the region.
The students were captivated by the grandeur of the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), situated on the banks of Dal Lake. For many of these young learners, it was their first visit to such a magnificent venue, and the experience left a lasting impression.
At the Chinar Book Fair, the students explored every stall, marveling at the vast array of books on display. This exposure to such a diverse collection of literature was an eye-opening experience for the students, many of whom had never seen a book fair of this scale before. The trip not only deepened their appreciation for books but also inspired a newfound enthusiasm for reading.
GMS Onagam remains committed to nurturing the intellectual growth of its students through such pioneering initiatives, ensuring that they continue to thrive academically and personally.
