The strategic Jammu-Srinagar Highwaywas closed for traffic onTuesday following fresh landslides and shooting stonesat Digdol in Ramban district of Jammu region.
SSPNational highway, Jitandar Singh Johar said the road was closed dueto fresh slide and shooting stones at Digdol.
Hesaid thousands of people were stranded on the highway because of the slide.
“Itis requested that there should be no movement from Jammu to Srinagaron National Highway. Public is requested not to travel on National highwayas it will not be possible to allow them on the highway,” said the SSP, addingthey were trying clear the stranded vehicles first.
Hesaid the restoration work was going on but continous shootingstones were hampering the clearance work.
The highway, which connects Kashmir with the rest of the world, was closed for several days during last week due to landslides at Digdol.
