J&K Govt issues list of holidays for 2022

Jammu, Dec 16: J&K government on Thursday issued the list of 24 holidays for the calendar year-2022, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

The days listed, as per GAD order, will be public holidays during the calendar year-2022. These holidays will include Republic Day on January 26; Mahashivratri on March 1; Holi (for Jammu province only) on March 18; yearly closing of Banks (for banks only) on April 1; first Navratra on April 2; Baisakhi on April 14; birthday of Dr B R Ambedkar on April 14.

   

As per the list, Jumat-ul-Vida and Shab-i-Qadr will be celebrated on April 29 while Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 3; Buddha Purnima on May 16; Guru Hargobind Ji’s birthday on June 15; Eid-ul-Azha on July 10 and 11. Ashoora will be observed on August 8.

Besides the list of holidays includes Independence Day on August 15; Janamashtami on August 19; Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2; Dussehra on October 5; Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi on October 8; Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi on October 14; Diwali on October 24; Accession Day on October 26; Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday on November 8 and the Christmas on December25.

“AII the Muslim holidays are subject to appearance of moon,” the order specified.

Through a separate order, the government also listed holidays to be observed In the government offices and educational institutions of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during the calendar year-2022.
