Making report without thorough investigations regrettable: Mir Junaid

Srinagar, May 16: President Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party, Mir Junaid, today said that the making a report without first engaging in on-the-ground discussions and conducting thorough investigations is a regrettable oversight on the part of the United Nations special rapporteur.

In a statement, he said that it is important to listen to the stories of those affected and actively assess the situations and events in question. “Publishing a report that lacks these essential components only serves to undermine the credibility of the United Nations special rapporteur Moreover, the timing of the report raises concerns about its intended purpose and potential biases. If this report had been produced in the 1990s or earlier, it may have had some relevance. However, releasing it now suggests a possible ulterior motive and a desire to portray the Kashmir issue in a negative light on a global scale. This approach may align with their own agenda, but it raises ethical questions about the UN’s special rapporteur commitment to impartiality and objectivity,”Mir said.
