Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was on Monday questioned throughout the day at the National Investigation Agency headquarters in New Delhi.
He will be questioned again on Tuesday in a funding case, asource said.
Mirwaiz, who left his Nigeen residence in Srinagar earlymorning today, along with two senior leaders of the amalgam Abdul GaniBhat andBilal Lone, reached the NIA headquarters in Delhi on time. He had been summonedat 10am. Senior advocate Nazir Ahmed Ronga also accompanied Mirwaiz to Delhi.
A source said that Mirwaiz was provided adequate securitycover at Delhi airport and a security escort from the airport to the NIAheadquarters.
He said that his questioning started at 11am and continuedtill 8pm.
“We were waiting downstairs and Mirwaiz was questionedupstairs (at the NIA headquarters),” Bilal told Greater Kashmir.
On Sunday, after taking feedback from all Hurriyat leadersand also from the Awami Action Committee (AAC) at his Nigeen residence, Mirwaizhad announced his decision to fly to Delhi.
The NIA had twice summoned him to New Delhi but his lawyerhad replied that his client couldn’t travel to the capital for security reasonsand the “hostile atmosphere” there.
