NIA arrests 2 more accused in Kashmir raids

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested two more persons in terrorism conspiracy case in Jammu and Kashmir.

With these two arrests, the number of accused apprehended has reached to 25.

A statement by the probe agency said, “NIA on Saturday arrested two more accused persons identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Wani resident of Srinagar and Umar Bhat resident of Sopore in RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI. “

The case, NIA said, “relates to conspiracy for undertaking violent terrorist acts in J&K and other major cities by cadres of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as The Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) etc.”

“NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated October 10,2021 and initiated the investigation. Till now 25 accused persons have been arrested in this case by the NIA,” it said.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused persons are terror associates/OGWs of various proscribed terrorist organisations and have been providing logistical and material support to terrorists,” the probe agency said. “Further Investigation in the case continues,” it added.
